Bio

Skyla has been an Assistant Roach at CAC since 2009. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education with endorsements is ESL and Reading. In addition to her coaching role for CAC, she is a Professor of Reading and Education. Skyla and her husband, Louis (Professor of Heavy Equipment), live in Casa Grande with their two daughters who both love horses and rodeo.  Skyla and Louis met while college rodeoing and are happy to be part of the region that brought them together in 2000.

Skyla grew up with horses and was raised around team roping and barrel racing. She was a member of her College Team (Pima) and a member of many barrel racing associations through the years. Skyla was the 2000 Tucson Rodeo Princess and the 2001 Tucson Rodeo Queen and is proud of that (despite the “queen stigma”).  Riding with the Quadrille de Mujeres at many PRCA rodeos is something she holds dearly in her memories. She was also honored to have carried flags at the WNFR for three years!

The Central Arizona College Rodeo Team is a HUGE part of Skyla’s life and she would not want it any other way! “GO VAQUEROS!”
