Double "P"s Continue to Impress for CAC Track and Field

Saturday 3/27/21

The Central Arizona College Track and Field Teams competed at the Cody McBride Invitational held at Paradise Valley Community College on Saturday.  Due to an extreme wind advisory on Thursday, the Distance in the Dark Classic was moved back to Saturday to allow athletes the opportunity to attempt to qualify for the National Meet.  Precious Robinson and Princess Kara continue to hold the standard for the track and field teams as they continued their dominance in their respective events.

Precious ran a 38:18.42 10k, which solidifies her as having the 2nd fastest 10k in school history and top American time by over 30 seconds.  What is even more impressive is Precious did so by finishing over 3 minutes from the nearest competitor.  "Precious has worked extremely hard and continues to represent the Vaqueras in every manner possible.  She's a pleasure to coach and I'm happy that she's healthy and starting to get into form" Stated Distance Coach Jon Harmon.  Not to be outdone, Princess had success of her own on Saturday.

Princess, who holds the nation's top mark in the discuss at 51.35 meters, set a new season record in the shot put, launching 13.30 meters, respectively.  Princess now sits securely in the top 10 for the shot put this year and will only continue to improve as the weeks progress.  Princess continues to set high standards even with the school's weight room being closed, which is pivotal for most field events.  The weight room has been closed all semester due to the pandemic but hopefully will open within the month, allowing competitors like Princess to continue to develop.

Other top performances on Saturday include: Ariz Duarte (18.58.84) who qualified in the 5k for the national meet, Joshua Bowen (53.41 meters) in the javelin, Trayvion White-Austin (6.85 meters) in the long jump and 21.49 in the 200 meters, Rachel Rose (1:08.12) in the 400 meter hurdles, Kwanda Knight (15.72) in the 100 hurdles, James Fincher (33.38.59) in the 10k, and Salomay Agyei (2:20.72) in the 800.

CAC will be back in action at the ACCAC Conference Championships on April 2nd at Mesa Community College.  The meet will consists of teams competing in head to head scoring for the ACCAC Conference Title.  For complete results from the Cody McBride Invitational click here.
