Women's Track and Field win the ACCAC Conference Championship, Men second

The ACCAC Conference Championships took place on Saturday, comprising of only junior college teams in Arizona that yield a track and field team.  Those teams: Mesa Community College, Pima, Glendale, Phoenix, and Paradise Valley all competed at the championship meet.  CAC Women's Track and Field Team continued the strong tradition of the sport by outdistancing the competition, achieving first place in the process.  

The Women's team highlighted the meet by claiming first place in 13 of the 19 events held, respectively.  Individual event winners were: Juvonna Cornette (11.91 100 meter, 24.40 200 meter), Cece Charles (400 meter), Silet Gray (1:04.17 400 meter hurdles), Beatrice Keditukei (5000 meter), Zamesha Myle (High Jump, 11.80m Triple Jump) Kaise Ugeh (5.57m Long Jump, 41.07m Javelin) Princess Kara (51.29m Discus, 14.56m Shot Put) and the 4x100 (47.10), 4x400 (3:54.99) relays.  

As if claiming first place in 13 different events was not impressive enough, the women posted 13 National Qualifying marks for the Championship meet in May.  Those athletes were: Juvonna, Shakera Kirk (41.30m Discuss), Kaise, Zamesha, Silet, and Lisbet Porras (12:12.20 3000 meter steeple).

Lisbet made history by running the CAC's 16th fastest time ever in the steeplechase and it just so happened to be her first attempt at such distance.  Lisbet currently holds the 10th fastest time in the nation in the event, respectively. 

The men, who claimed runner-up honors, left a lot to be desired but still managed to put out some impressive statistics placing first in 5 of the 19 events.  Individual event winners were: Godwin Charles (15.27m Triple Jump, 7.16m Long Jump), Raphael Kitur (3:56.53 1500 meter, 15:24.12 5000 meter) and the 4x400 Relay (3:16.25).

The men also posted 6 national qualfying marks at the conference meet.  Those athletes were: Raphael, Godwin, Christian Franklin (1:53.74 800 meter), Razak Abdul (47.98 400 meter), and the 4x400 relay. 

The Track and Field teams get to travel out of state for in season competition for the first time in over 2 years when they travel to the UCSD Triton Invitational in San Diego, CA on 4/9/22.
