Final National Ranking Update

November 2, 2022

The final rankings were released on Wednesday leading into the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships.

The Vaqueros moved up 2 spots to secure a 6th place ranking, the men were previously ranked 8th.

The Vaqueras maintained their 8th place ranking for 4 total weeks leading into the final race of the year.

Both cross country squads are positioned to ride their momentum from the region meets, which were held at Central Arizona College.

The Vaqueros won the Region 1 Title in addition to the ACCAC Championship, both are a first for Coach Jonathan Harmon and the program's first since 2019 (2020 season was canceled due to Covid).

The Vaqueras won the Region 1 Title which is Harmon's second straight but had to settle for 2nd place in the ACCAC Championship.  The program last won in 2021, Coach Harmon's first official season at the helm.

"We are positioned to do well at Nationals and both squads have some very high expectations" "I am very blessed and thankful to be leading these young men and women, they have worked hard all year and are excited as their season comes to a close"  Stated Harmon.

The men will take 5 freshmen to the national meet with it's only 2 sophomores being Joseph Meagher and Alazar Getahun

The women's team is built opposite, as they are taking 5 sophomores to the championship meet; Lisbet Porras, Jaida Lyles, Beatrice Keditukei, Cameron Nelson, and Jaedyn Brown are all expected to lead the group.

The NJCAA Cross Country Championships will be held on November 12th in Tallahassee, Florida, and will be live-streamed via the NJCAA platform.
