September 30, 2023

The Central Arizona College Cross Country teams participated in the ACCAC Conference Championship, hosted by CAC last week.  The course toured the beautiful campus in Coolidge, which started at George Young Gymnasium.

The Vaqueros claimed 3rd place out of 9 teams.  All of the schools participating at the meet were NJCAA D1 and D2 colleges.  Schools in attendance were Central Arizona, Mesa CC, Paradise Valley CC, Pima, Estrellea CC, Glendale, Phoenix, Tohono O'odham, and Coconino.

Top finisher for the Vaqueros went to Julian Campos, who toured the course in 24:50 which was good enough for claiming conference champion. There were 68 finishers in this years race.  In addition to Julian placing as the Vaqueros top finisher, he also ran the 7th fastest time in school history at the conference meet.

"I'm proud of Julian, he really stepped up and had every intention of making sure that his teammates would be put in the best position to win." "Although as a team we did not run our best, I still believe the men will rebound from this and be hungry when the big moment comes."  Stated Head Coach Jon Harmon.

"Daniel, Thomas, Luca, and Justice all ran PR's today and given the temperature and course we ran on I'm very impressed."  "The men lost to the the #1 ranked and #2 ranked D2 school in the nation but no excuses, we will get better."

The remaining Vaqueros finished as follows:

Samuel Gilson (25:07) placed 4th overall.
Micah Slivers (26:03) placed 16th overall.
