Softballers take command in Division I Regionals with two Friday wins

It's Championship Saturday for the Central Arizona Vaqueras.

It's a double elimination format for the Division I Regionals and you just can't beat winning the first two. By doing just that, the Vaqueras have two shots at moving on to the softball Junior College World Series again.

The Nationals.

Central's first game on Saturday is against the winner of the Pima Community College/Arizona Western winner who play in an elimination game at 10AM.

The winner of that game has to beat Central Arizona twice today. Central's game is directly after the elimination game.

Central beat the #1 seed Arizona Western with a five run seventh in the day's second game, and Baylee Eaton threw a 6-0 shutout in the first game against Yavapai, striking out a whopping 11.

She got big help at the plate with homeruns from Madison Besaw and Aliya Ewell.

The shootout game two had the Vaqueras up most of the game and by scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning, were able to win after stopping a Western rally in the bottom of the seventh.

Evelyn Roman, Sonia Solis, Danielle Farinas and Besaw all had three hits in the game, but it was the designated player Justeen Vasquez who had four hits hitting second. Roman scored four times

Besaw had quite a day, going 5-7 with four rbi's.
