Three Vaqueras receive ACCAC/Region I softball honors

On Monday The all-ACCAC/Region I softball teanms were announced. Three Vaqueras took home honors.

 

RHP Sarah Norton: First Team ACCAC, Division 1 All-Region ---> Norton was 10-7 with a 3.24 ERA. In 93 innings of work, the righty totaled 123 K's and collected 8 complete game wins.

INF Nicol Ley: Second Team ACCAC ---> Ley batted .468 with 12 2B's, 2 HR, 33 RBI's, a .492 OBP / .627 SLG %.  The infielder spent time at third base, shortstop, and second base this year.

OF Sonia Solis: Third Team ACCAC ---> Solis finished the regular season batting .396 with 3 HR and 28 RBI / .960 fielding percentage in the OF

Offensively, CAC finished the regular season 6th in the country team batting average (.415), and 14th in on base percentage (.459). The Vaqueras had players not mentioned in the ACCAC awards that still managed to put together nice seasons. Noted among them include Freshman catcher Bella Garcia, who hit .461 / .505 OBP  / .640 SLG %, with 3 HR, 10 XBH, 34 RBI. Freshman INF Cheyenne Hudson also put together a strong perfomance in her first college season. Mostly playing SS and batting leadoff, the freshman batted .398 with a .504 OBP, .570 SLG %, 3 HR, 10 XBH, 18 RBI, 15 BB's, and 12 stolen bases. P/OF Jessica Mercado collected 10 wins in the circle this season, overpowering hitters at times. Offensively, Mercado batted .422 on the year with a .467 OBP and a .554 SLG %.
