Vaqueras finish regular season schedule at 47-6, set for ACCAC Region 1 tournament as #2 seed

CAC Softball wrapped up the ACCAC regular season on Saturday, May 7th with two victories vs #12 Eastern Arizona. The Vaqueras won game one 7-6 on a walkoff in the bottom of the 7th when Ana Rodriguez scored following a Bella Garcia line drive base hit and a subsequent throwing error. In game two, the Vaqueras came from behind and took the lead in the bottom of the 6th when Ana Rodriguez slugged a two run homerun deep to left center. RHP Katelyn Woodard pitched out of the bullpen in both games and picked up both victories on the day, improving to 12-1 on the season to go along with her 7 saves.

CAC hit four homers on the day - two by Rodriguez, one from Marina Acedo, and a line drive shot to left field off the bat of Bella Garcia. Nicol Ley collected three more hits on the day, adding to her season total of 97. Heading into the postseason, The infielder is second in the nation in total hits.

The Vaqueras hit 92 home runs during the regular season, with Rodriguez (23), Churchill (22), and Bella Garcia (14) leading the way. During the 2022 regular season, 8 Vaqueras managed to post an OPS (on base + slugging %) over 1.000: Kyra Vieux, Sabrina Garcia, Marina Acedo, Emily Churchill, Brooke Williams, Bella Garcia, Nicol Ley, and Ana Rodriguez. Jessica Mercado finished the regular season with a 16-4 record, a 3.3 ERA, and 124 K's in 117 innings. In the circle, Ana Rodriguez posted a 19-1 regular season record, a 2.6 ERA, and 141 K's in 118.2 IP.

#2 Central Arziona will open up the ACCAC Region 1 Tournament on Friday in Prescott - May 13th at 9 AM vs #3 Eastern Arizona
