Track and Field Concludes a Busy Weekend with Meets in New Mexico and Arizona

Friday

The Central Arizona College Men and Women Track and Field Teams competed at the Don Kirby Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico on Friday and Saturday.  Central Arizona did not field their complete team but had some solid performances notably from Samuel Gilson (Freshman), Grace Kombetto (Freshman), and T'anna Liburd (Freshman).

Samuel ran the 30th fastest 3000 meter time in the nation with a altitude adjusted time of 8:37.38. 

Grace ran the 3rd fastest 600 time in the nation with a time of 1:35.02.

Grace also ran the 5th fastest 800 meter time in the nation with a time of 2:13.86.

T'anna ran the 15th fastest 600 meter time in the nation with a time of 1:38.09.

Saturday

Those that did not travel to New Mexico to compete had an opportunity to showcase their talent against a couple of AZ Universities and colleges as the team competed at the Gaucho Indoor Invitational hosted by Glendale Community College.  Central Arizona did not field their complete team but had some solid performances notably from Gabriel Oliveria (Freshman) and Rejoice Agbewodie (Freshman).

Gabriel posted the 5th best distance in the nation in with a mark of 49-05.00 in the triple jump.

Gabriel also posted the 14th best distance in the nation with a mark of 23-08.00 in the long jump.

Rejoice posted the 5th best distance in the nation with a mark of 53-04.50 in the weight throw.

The track and field teams will be back in action on February 16th at the NAU Tune-up Meet held at Northern Arizona University.
