Women's Track and Field Place 6th out of 35 teams at the 2024 NJCAA Indoor Championships

The Men and Women Track and Field Teams concluded the indoor season at the NJCAA National Championship meet on Friday and Saturday.  Central Arizona did not field their complete team but had some solid performances notably from Gabriel Oliveria (Freshman), Grace Kombetto (Freshman), Patience Boahemaa (Sophomore), Brianna Samuels (Sophomore), T'anna Liburd (Freshman), Temyra Bia (Freshman), Aaliyah Gidhary (Freshman), Mikelia Strong (Sophomore), Rejoice Agbewodie (Freshman), and Kaise Ugeh (Sophomore).

Grace earned All-American status in the 800 with a time of 2:08.80 (2nd overall), 4x400 (3rd overall), and 4x800 (4th overall) securing 10.75 points for the women's team. 

Patience earned All-American status in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.78 (5th overall) securing 4 points.

Brianna earned All-American status in the 4x800 helping the team place 4th overall.  She also placed 8th in the 800 and 600 securing 3.25 points.

T'anna earned All-American status in the 4x400 helping the team place 3rd overall securing 1.5 points.

Temyra earned All-American status in the 4x800 helping the team place 4th overall securing 1.25 points.

Aaliyah earned All-American status in the Pentathlon with 3374 total points placing 4th overall, 4x400 (3rd overall), and 4x800 (4th overall) securing 7.75 points.

Mikelia earned All-American status in the 4x400 helping the team place 3rd overall securing 1.5 points.

Rejoice earned All-American status in the weight throw with a distance of 16.61m (4th overall).  She also placed 7th in the shot put securing 7 points. 

Kaise earned All-American in the shot put with a distance of 13.91m (5th overall) securing 4 points.

Combined efforts from the women's team led to a scoring of 41 points.  Indian Hills and Iowa Western tied for the win with a total of 106 points.  Other notable finishes for Arizona Community Colleges were Mesa with 21 points, Pima with 14 points, Glendale with 8 points, Paradise Valley with 3 points, and Phoenix College 0 points.

The track and field teams will be back in action on March 9th at the Occidental Distance Carnival, held in Los Angeles, CA.  The meet with be the first outdoor meet of the season for CAC.
