Women's Track and Field Compete in First Outdoor Meet of the Season in California

The Men and Women Track and Field Teams kicked off the outdoor season at the Occidental Distance Carnival on Saturday.  Central Arizona did not field their complete team but had some solid performances notably from Jordan Myers (Freshman), Jorge Corona (Sophomore), Julian Campos (Sophomore), Samuel Gilson (Sophomore), Asante Maez (Sophomore), and Brianna Samuels (Sophomore).

Jordan qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor National meet in the 5k with a time of 15:03.94 and currently has the 3rd fastest outdoor time in the nation. 

Jorge qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor National meet in the 3k Steeplechase with a time of 9:42.91 and currently has the fastest outdoor time in the nation. 

Julian qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor National meet in the 5k with a time of 14:29.35 and currently has the fastest outdoor time in the nation. 

Samuel qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor National meet in the 5k with a time of 14:36.72 and currently has the 2nd fastest outdoor time in the nation. 

Asante qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor National meet in the 10k with a time of 32:31.89 and currently has the fastest outdoor time in the nation. 

Brianna qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor National meet in the 800 with a time of 2:12.79 and currently has the fastest outdoor time in the nation. 

Jessica Viera missed qualifying in the 10k by 14 seconds but currently has the fastest outdoor time in the nation with a 41:13.47.

 

The track and field teams will be back in action on March 16th at the Arizona Spring Break Fiesta, held at the University of Arizona.
