Central Arizona College Heads To Title Game In JUCO World Series With 7-4 Win Over Walters State

-Blade Central Arizona College Baseball Beat

(Grand Junction) - Tyler Woessner is the number one starter for the Vaqueros and after four days rest he was called on to shut down a menacing and powerful Walters State offense, and that friends, is exactly what he did.

Throwing fastballs clocked at anywhere between 93 and 98 miles-per-hour, which made his slider completely debilitating, he went seven innings, giving up just three runs, while striking out eight.

The classic Tyler Woessner. Again, he did what he does.

Number two starter Shane Spencer came in for the final two innings, and in the bottom of the eighth, used only eleven pitches in striking out the side. He struck out four of his eight batters overall and there was no drama last night in this one.

Once Central Arizona went ahead 4-3 it wasn't really close. After a left-center field solo smash from Tyrese Johnson, it was Woessner and Spencer in shutdown, and with yes, another homerun from Kiko Romero, his sixth of the tournament, and Ryan Ball with a homerun, and with rbi's from Vinnie Lagatta and Chase Valentine, the game ended with a Walters State groundout.

Central Arizona takes another win, giving only four runs again, in a 7-4 win. All of this after losing it's first game, the Vaqueros have won four straight.

This pitching staff has the the best JUCO World Series ERA at 4.54. When you're giving up four runs a game in the JUCO World Series, you have given yourself the best chance you can give, to win it all.

The final is tonight: Central Arizona College against Cowley State. First pitch is at 6:00pm Arizona time.
